Bio: Dr. Patrick K. Briggs, Consultant

Dr. Briggs was born in Northern California where he enjoyed many aspects of the “outdoors” world. Some of his passions were and still include running, cycling and kayaking. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he graduated in Kinesiology/Exercise Physiology in 1993. Coupling his passion for the outdoors with the love of science, he pursued a career in podiatric medicine and surgery. He attended the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco in 1994.

After completing his medical training in San Francisco in 1998, Dr. Briggs was accepted to the Veterans Administration West Los Angeles (affiliated with UCLA), where he completed his internship in 1999. He then traveled to Houston, TX to complete his surgical training in all aspects of the foot, ankle and reconstructive surgery. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Briggs joined the practice of Stephen V. Day, DPM (one of the founding fathers of endoscopic heel spur surgery). During his tenure, he became part of the community lecturing, volunteering and fund raising. In June 2007, he married Ms. Helene Harding.

Alaska Foot and Ankle Specialists welcomed Dr. Briggs to practice in January 2008, when Dr. Briggs and his wife were transferred to Anchorage. Dr. Briggs recently relocated back to Houston, TX and now functions as a consultant to AFAS.
